Detalles de la observación
Males and females are similar but females have less black in the face and crown. They are birds of forested understory, shy and usually difficult to see. but these cooperative individuals were incredibly tame. They have been declining and are now scarce migrants here in Coastal Texas. Formerly included in the genus "Oporornis" but moved to "Geothlypis" after genetic studies found they were more closely related to Yellowthroats. The name "formosa" means "beautiful."
