NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 6. Bulk reel: 112 Weather: Cloudy fair. The beginning of May, 1966. I tried playing back the field tape of Formicarius analis from Perija, on which also appears Thamnophilus "punctatus" from the region. I played it repeatedly in an area I know to be ococupied by T. punctatus but where they were not singing at the time. I[t] brought absolutely no reaction. I then played back the field tape of T. punctatus from Nuria and very quickly the birds appeared and started to sing. I then collected a female. PAS. About 30 min. before this recording was made I played three times the recording from Perija mentioned in note above. There was absolutely no reaction. Then with no further playback until now, I played the field tape of T. punctatus from Nuria. Before I finished playing it the second time, this bird came in. Thamnophilus murinus is in background; also other birds.
