Detalles de la observación
When I first arrived, I heard only one blackbird singing. After 15 minutes of me searching the marsh for Pied-bill Grebe which had been observed a few hours earlier at this location, I heard more Red-winged Blackbird voices. So, I began searching more intently. Seven male birds of this species were in a tight flock at the edge of this pool of open water among the cattails. Why were they so close to each other? There are at least two potential reasons for their behavior: 1) A Short-eared Owl was nearby at a tall perch in a snag nearby in the marsh; 2) They had just arrived from their spring migration.
