Detalles de la observación
I have been searching for a Sooty Owl in the ACT for quite awhile and my late nights of spotlighting finally paid off. I was playing the Australian Masked-owl crackle call and then heard a distinct bomb whistle call coming from down the ridge. I turned my light on and had a clear view of a Sooty Owl shooting up the ridge overhead. Dark mostly grey to black Tyto with white and grey speckles. This is the only time I saw the bird. For the rest of the time I had the bird, it was perched calling a distance away from along the ridgeline near a gully. Audios acquired for proof as this is a significant ACT record.
