Detalles de la observación
A dark Egretta. Should be Egretta sp., as not actually white but whatever. Whether these birds are hybrids or rare dark morph Little remains uncertain. I have never seen one in the UK as far as I recall, but several in Portugal and Spain, where they are almost all assigned to little X western reef hybrids. Flew over approaching from the direction of church, heading NNW at 11:53, I ran downstairs with my binoculars and out the front door on the opposite side. It appeared almost straight away and I managed some awful digi-binned efforts with my phone. It varied in direction a little perhaps ending up heading more N when lost to view. Mostly dark sooty grey with a slight bluish hue. White face and foreneck, but dark colour extended onto crown. Bill looked very long, possibly slightly down curved distally but very hard to judge on views. Pale inner webs of primaries and at least outer secondaries. No detail seen on legs/feet.
