Detalles de la observación
*Rare. Gail the Gallinule continues to live to fight another day. Gail was found Sunday evening by Mitch Barry and survived the first real freeze on the Rochester winter. Seen by many, missed by some. Visible when I arrived, gone for a bit in the middle, and picked out by myself once the heavier rain set in, perched four or five feet above the mud on top of a cattail mat. Real possibility that the bird was there the entire time since all observers present were focusing their effort scanning the mud at lake-level. Much better views than on Tuesday with more field marks visible. Able to see the thick stubby bill, onset of purplish/blue feathers on the side, yellowish legs with long toes, and solid white undertail coverts.
