Detalles de la observación
Upon arriving at my first point before sunrise, I heard repeated fast tempo chip notes that sounded like a warbler. I quickly found the bird moving around in dense vegetation close to the ground. It was early and the light was not good, but through a brief glimpse I could see its bright yellow belly, olive-green back and dark gray head indicating a male oporornis warbler. In typical fashion the bird was secretive and stayed hidden behind think vegetation, but the series of rapid calls. I did not clearly see the face so I followed the bird for a few minutes trying to get a decent enough look to confirm the ID. After a few minutes, it began singing a disjointed song and rose into the upper levels of a Juniper. This allowed for decent views where I clearly saw bold broken white arcs above and below the eye and a black mask. The gray hood extended down into the chest where it transitioned to a black oval shaped area bordering the egg-yolk yellow belly that continued all the way to the end of the tail without any separation of color.
