Poor, documentation photos of a Nashville Warbler photographed by Curtis A. Marantz on 17 December 2022 along San Luis Creek in San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County, California.
Detalles de la observación
I initially spotted this bird moving about largely leafless branches in a tree over San Luis Creek opposite the The Creamery. After getting a quick, but definitive look at the bird, I tried to get a few photos with only moderate success before the bird disappeared. I never did hear this bird vocalize. This bird appeared to be a relatively small warbler with a short bill, a rounded head, and a plump body. I also thought the tail was of medium length for a warbler, but I failed to see any detail in the wings, legs, or feet. I was initially attracted to this bird as a result of the bright, lemon-yellow underparts, with the yellow extending from the throat through the undertail coverts, albeit with my photos showing a whitish belly. Also apparent was a medium-gray hood that was sharply demarcated from the yellow throat. I further noted a white eyering that was narrow, but seemingly complete and well-defined. The back and wings were olive-green and with minimal pattern evident from the distance at which my observations were made. He eyes were dark, but i failed to see any additional detail on the soft parts. Unfortunately I noted no additional detail on the basis of relatively brief observations from a moderate distance.
