NOTES: PROBABLY C. N. TARUENSIS. DRY BUSH. DUSK. SONG FROM A SMALL NIGHTJAR WITH A SQUARE TAIL. REASONABLY SURE OF IDENTICATION--SONG UNMISTAKABLE; SQUEAKS AND SQUEAK CADENCE. CUT DOWN TO 5000HZ ON COPY--TO REDUCE INSECT NOISE. ML: Subject changed from Caprimulgus nubicus to Rhinoptilus cinctus on the advice of Yoav Perlman and James Bradley and comparison with recordings of that species. Unclear why the recordist was so sure it came from a nightjar, but seems better to label it as the courser based on the recording. Jay McGowan, 5Aug2022.
