Detalles de la observación
Continuing bird found by Larry Therrien. I had arrived here at 8 AM to find roughly 50 geese sleeping on the frozen pond, not including the pink-footed. From there I headed west hoping it would be foraging in some nearby fields where I noticed a large flock of geese out in the athletic fields, which did include this bird. I watched from my truck for over an hour, hoping they would fly over to the pond where they are much more approachable and easier to photograph. I decided to head to Northampton, but returned a few hours later and found the athletic fields to be completely empty. A stop at the campus pond contained hundreds of geese, including this bird which was right in front on the edge of the ice only 40 feet away! It was an amazing moment when this bird awoke from a snooze and decided to walk on the ice to the edge of the pond, away from all the other Canada Geese present.
