Detalles de la observación
Bird was perched on east side of fence near south end of street. Large black bird with long black tail and giant honking bill. First saw bird after I heard it making an odd chirping vocal. A life bird for me. Bird then flew out of sight at south end of street. Would probably be difficult to relocate over the barbed wire fence private property. Photos attached. Originally had ID'd and entered this bird as Groove-billed Ani but re-evaluation by experts during Nov-Dec 2017 determined that this is a Smooth-billed Ani. Change of ID made on 12/9/17. Then about 2020, bird was again re-evaluated by more experts in further detail and determined to actually be a Groove-billed Ani as originally documented. So finally correcting species back to Groove-billed Ani on 10-18-21, after no one notified me that bird had been re-evaluated and removed from Ebird records, several months earlier.
