abrupt, scratchy "scrape" calls given initially when standing and then eventually in flight as the bird flew north from the spit
Detalles de la observación
*rare; basic adult found by Greg Prelich & Jeanine Apgar (thank you!); loafing on the base of the spit as the tide started to go out with Bonaparte’s Gulls and Forster’s Terns; small gull with slight pinkish underparts, soft gray earmuff pattern extending across crown, black underwings, blunt white primary tips visible at rest, drab pink-orange legs and feet; giving soft metallic “scrape” calls; photos and audio recordings
