Detalles de la observación
female type, skittish, glimpsed at sunflower seed feeder at window then flushed and re-spotted in vegetation about 20 feet from house. Bird then flushed again and went to about 30-40 feet away and higher, but SWC was able to snap a few photos before the bird disappeared. In view for maybe 2 minutes, great light looking NW and with sun behind us. Not seen again today. Obvious Pheucticus grosbeak, probably a first winter male- NOT same bird that was recently photographed at nearby Remsen yard. Fairly rusty under parts with no obvious streaks across breast, a couple thin dark streaks right at the side of the breast, conspicuous white wing bars, white eye brow and malar area contrasting with dark crown and dark patch through eye and auriculars, rusty of breast extending up onto side of neck and becoming a partial hindneck collar. Will add photos.
