Detalles de la observación
Very unusual date. Generally in Pennsylvania, WRSA may linger in spring to about mid-June, and first southbound adults might appear mid-July (though usually later). This bird basically split the difference. Considering that it appeared with several other southbound shorebirds in the past few days, it is probably an early fall migrant, though it is so early it may well have never made it to the breeding grounds at all. Adult still in complete alternate plumage, heavily streaked neck and streaks down the flanks, mostly gray/brown mottled back with hints of rufous, long (and dark) legged, body usually appeared tapered, long wings extending past the tail, long dark bill. Occasionally I could convince myself that I could see a pale base to the lower mandible but lighting and distance were very difficult for this fine detail. Photos don't really show it either. Two photos attached.
