Detalles de la observación
Buteo. Uniformly multi-banded black tail with wide prominent white terminal band. Some RLHA males exhibit such tails. While some RTHA (Harlan’s) have similar black banding, they do not have prominent white terminal band. Bird had proportionally longer wings with less bulging of the secondaries than would be expected in a RTHA. The first photo is untouched photo, second is enlarged and lightened. Photo of ventral side doesn't show color underneath well - one wing is overexposed and the other is in shadow. Body coloring is indistinct. Tail looks foreshortened from angle of tail, in reality tail appeared longer. When first seen in distance I first mistook it for a NOHA because it appeared longer-tailed. Did not have a dorsal view of the bird. Bird was flying fast and direct with rapid wingbeats - faster than larger, heavier raptors.
