A male Rufous Songlark perched singing on a windy day. The Rufous Songlark (Cincloramphus mathewsi) occurs widely throughout Australia, favouring open habitats such as grassland, open woodland, mulga and farmland. The males sing almost continuously from a perch or in flight, often cycling through a series of calling perches. Rufous Songlarks feed on invertebrates and small seeds on the ground. This male Rufous Songlark was perched on the dead top of a eucalypt in windy conditions in the One Tree Point Nature Reserve, just north of Carnarvon in Western Australia. He called from time to time, but did not make the full call sequence. Elevation: 3 m. Date added to IBC: September 12, 2019.
