A White-throated Treerunner hunting on a lichen-covered Nothofagus trunk. The White-throated Treerunner (Pygarrhichas albogularis) is a small furnariid bird reminiscent of a Nuthatch that is found in tall Nothofagus-dominated forest from central to southern Chile and south-western Argentina. White-throated Treerunners hunt for small arthropods on tree trunks. This one was foraging on a lichen-covered Nothofagus trunk in mature forest on the edge of the Pingo River in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. Elevation: 1264 m.
