A female Black-chinned Siskin perching and singing in Hebe. Black-chinned Siskins (Spinus barbatus) are found in Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands. On the Falklands, which lacks any native trees, Black-chinned Siskins have been aided by the planting of introduced trees and shrubs in gardens and for windbreaks. They are often seen perching in taller shrubs and trees, and foraging for seeds and insects on the ground, usually close to cover. This female Siskin was perched on a native Hebe shrub near the lodge, singing occasionally. Elevation: 10 m. Date added to IBC: February 6, 2019.
