Detalles de la observación
Continuing adult and immature, in southern pond near Washington. Features I was able to observe today that I could not see well on my last visit when the birds were resting: the broad facial skin on the adult that makes the white on the forehead more of a V than a U, and a similar pattern on the juvenile; long straight sloped bills. The juvenile has a lot of black blending into the pink of the bill. They tolerated all the Canada geese around them, which is not something I've seen in my (limited) experience with trumpeter swans in nesting territory to the north where they always seemed to stay apart. The size difference between Canada geese and these swans is pretty remarkable as well, more than tundra swans.
