Time 19:21 EDT continuing to enter chimney about 10 per second. The actual hole is very small in this chimney, so they all enter at the same point. This is the N&O retired chimney on 215 S McDowell Street, as seen from a parking garage on Salisbury south of Hargett.
Detalles de la observación
Conservative estimate, based on counting 100x100 of swirling flock. The swifts entered the chimney at 215 South McDowell (News & Observer) from 7:14 until 7:30. About 10 per second entered the chimney over a period of 15 minutes. There were breaks in between where they were swirling, so another estimate was based on 500 birds entering the chimney per minute for a total of 7 active minutes. They started the entry at 7:14 and the last bird entered at 7:30.See photos.
