ML: Subject changed from Psilopogon australis to P. duvaucelli to reflect current taxonomy. -Jay McGowan 23Nov2014. Recorded while sitting on a bamboo platform hung 20 meters up in the crown of a large strangler fig tree (Ficus drupacea) in full fruit. Over 100 birds were feeding in a flock. Four kinds of sounds from this species are recorded here: 1. High-pitched chattering sounds (esp. at beginning) given while feeding 2. One-syllable short whistled note at about 1-sec intervals 3. Two-syllable ko-tek ko-tek ko-tek ko-tek . . . song, which is the most typical vocalization of the species, given most of the day 4. Series of short trills, given about 3 bursts per sec. for several sec., declining slightly in pitch (heard more later in the cut). Habitat: Tropical Forest, Evergreen Forest.
