Detalles de la observación
Foraging close to shore along a half mile stretch of beach between the 'fish factory' to the west and some derelict pilings off to the east. The most ROST I've ever seen at one time and possibly the best looks I've ever had (<50'). Also the first time I've witnessed the species plunge dive for food that I can recall. Many of the birds already had some orange appearing at the base of their bills (see photos). Outnumbered COTE 3-1. Saw a few instances of ROST chasing COTE. Frequent squeaky, single-note vocalizations heard, but not the raspier, 2-note 'hiccup' call I'm familiar with.
