age not confirmed -- "juvenile" age class based mostly on partial nuchal collar, black tips to rectrices, no tail streamers, and "heavy" dorsal barring attributed to juv. RBTR by The Stokes Field Guide (2010); after an hour, the bird flew out of sight; we have a short vido upon request;
Detalles de la observación
blood visible at base of bill and nares; ID culminated from viewing the following characters congruent with RBTR: Black nucal ring -- (although not complete; possibly sub adult?) Large bill -- The bill is as long as the head (i.e., RBTR, according to the Stokes Field Guide) Black primary coverts -- Although difficult to discern in the photos and video, black primary coverts are visible); No carpal bar (a character of WTTR) is visible on the photographed bird; however, again, this bird may be young; This bird appears to have course barring, but STOKES mentions that the barring is "heavier" (appearing courser) in JU RBTR; Black tips on rectrices -- Stokes refers to this character when describing young RBTR. There are black tips on at least the center rectrix (a thin black terminal edge), and rects. 2 & 3 on the bird's right side (rt. side of uropygial gland).
