Photos are very poor as it was a very smoky day down there but scope views were OK. Based on the following , I would say it is a 3rd year bird LBBG sitting on the pilings west of the wharf -Based on photo comparison to Ring-billed Gulls, I am estimating 21 inch bird compared to an ave. Ring-bill at 17 1/2 -Very dark mantle with dark brown mottled wings which have no visible windows -thin, short yellow bill with red gonydeal spot and pale yellow legs and pale eye. -white tail when flared appears mostly freshly molt but still 6-7 black spots near tail tips, -worn greater and lesser covert bar
