Black Brant in Puerto Rico
Detalles de la observación
Laurie and I went this morning to see this bird. It was first located on March 1. It was seen to fly off into the ocean and was presumed gone. Rafy Rodriguez called me yesterday to say that it was back at the same location in El Combate, the first pond after the gate by the community. The bird was calm, feeding, and allowed photos. It looked dark bellied to me suggesting that it is the dark bellied subspecies, nigricans, from western NA. This may be the first Brant reported from PR.
