Tapping at a tree.
Detalles de la observación
Seen in two areas of the park. The first one I saw was close to the parking lot in the middle of the park, where the annual burns are conducted. The microhabitat was a mix of old oaks and new growth. The first one I saw was tapping at a tree and was clearly male because of it's dark red head. I then saw a male and a female at Grenadier pond, but in the North-West corner where it is small. I initially heard the male calling and was then able to differentiate between the male and female due to difference in colouring. The male was producing the "kwirr calls", which helped in identifying it.
