Rough estimate but I tried...there were TONS. This estimate is based on a 30-minute vigil in the late afternoon at the first little feeding station (Ultramarine spot). I tried to get a sense of what direction the birds were moving - apparently all upslope with little or no circulation. If anything, I bet there were more than this. As we continued driving downhill, there were still hundreds in the air heading upslope.
