Detalles de la observación
had thought at first that this bird was a Cooper's Hawk. I was not able to photograph ventral side of bird, but, upon review of dorsal side, and reviewing several field guides, I believe this bird is a Red-shouldered Hawk; e.g. dark eye, black bill with yellow cere; upperparts are brown mottled with white; tail is black with thin white bands; it appears that the secondary coverts do have 2-3 pale bars, which is a field mark for RSHA. Also, it appears that the upper wing coverts show some reddish-brown. Bird was perched on a low branch in the forest; Sibley notes that RSHA "hunts mainly from a perch within forests" - which is what this bird appeared to be doing.
