Flying towards me. Heavily cropped.
Detalles de la observación
I was doing the daily lakewatch at Dog Beach. I first saw this goose through the scope while looking north at a distance of about 1 km. It was flying into the strong SW wind but was moving quite rapidly. I was able to see an all dark head, neck and breast on a smallish goose and immediately knew it was a brant. The wings were almost pointed and it was flying about 25m above the water. I watched it for the next 30 seconds, as it got closer. I got my camera ready and watched a bit longer. I then attempted a few photos as it flew in front of me at a distance of about 150m. I included 3 photos, one of them lightened a lot to show contrasting black and white areas of the bird (the white rump was obvious as it flew away from me). They also showed a small, stubby bill. Unfortunately the sun was bright and in my face. I believe this is the first county record record since 2011.
