Much larger than AMGO
Detalles de la observación
Netted (and banded) at the banding lab. Was captured along the bluffs in the same net as a few American Goldfinches. An apparent escapee, this bird's large size (see comparison shot with AMGO) lack of extensive black on the face and cold gray coloration put it comfortably in the canniceps subspecies group. Although an escapee, the bird seemed to be migrating with other birds and had a fair amount of sub-dermal fat built up. For a captive bird, it appeared rather healthy. Oddly one wing was 5mm shorter than the other although the bird showed no signs of active molt.
