Detalles de la observación
The Sooty Tern previously reported continued on the afternoon of 8-28-2017. It was foraging in the water off the north shore of Walter E. Long Lake. The forked tail of the Sooty Tern was mostly black with white edges. The crown of the head, nape, back and dorsal surface of the wings of the Sooty Tern appeared black. The forehead, throat and belly of the Sooty Tern were white. The black primaries on the ventral surface of the long, narrow wings contrasted sharply with the white coverts. The Sooty Tern and several other tern species normally found almost exclusively in coastal and pelagic waters were driven north by Hurricane Harvey.
