Detalles de la observación
falcons came in on north winds, first saw one come in high from the north over GP4, bird did not descend and quickly departed to the south. two birds seen coming in together very high from the north, over GP5N, maybe as far as MPW, as I was looking to the west. Birds grappled many times, chased each other high over Goose Pond, going just about every direction, and then departed high to the south like the previous bird. Seemed like I had a long look at these but it was probably a matter of a few minutes at most. Last bird was seen while I was hiking the middle levee north to south, in MP. Bird came in from the north again, descended low over the water at high speed an scared up hundreds of shorebirds. Came very close to getting birds in flight a couple times, but seemed to be practicing, or at least not that intent on a kill, given how many birds were up. So, I had a grand total of four peregrine falcons, all of which appeared to come in high from the north and depart high to the south. Other birds also disappeared permanently to the south, like the black terns, so I think it's very possible these were four different migrants, but I left my count at three because the late afternoon bird could have been one that stuck around or returned. photos, including poor shots of two birds coming in together.
