LIFER!!! Its funny that I got pretty nice pics showing a decent amount of detail and still had no idea they were teals (was almost certain in the field that they were garganey bc I had no experience with their eclipse plumage) and it took a lot of time checking and comparing to convince myself they were actually falcate and at the end it was really just the overall head shape. for some individuals I wasn’t clear if they were green winged or another type of teal (dongniao kept giving baikal but that was pretty easy to rule out) but it turned out that most of the ducks in the southern end of the pond were falcated and some still seem to have a bit of that green gleam (very faint) on the back of their head/nape crest. Been hoping to see this species for quite a while since they’re really handsome looking but didnt expect to see them in this plumage, hopefully I’ll see them in breeding plume as well in the future
