Detalles de la observación
*Rare; PESA is never common around the Harbor or at Sandy Point, and they are particularly notable after October anywhere in CT. Just my 2nd patch record of PESA after having ~25 during the famous PESA fallout of Hurricane Ophelia in 2023. All heading W and descending when they saw the Sandy Point estuary. First bird was solo and high above the Point, then the next two were a pair that came in low over the water at the tip of the Point. Hefty Calidrid sandpipers with warm brown back, heavily streaked chest that cut off sharply at the stomach, and slightly drooped beak. Very front heavy sandpiper, unlike WRSA. We were never able to relocate the birds after they all seemingly landed, but I’m sure they were around. Bad photos obtained
