Detalles de la observación
Incredible! We got reasonable views of the continuing bird along the crossdike early. Around 11:30, we saw what we assumed was the same bird at the far NE corner of the site. It flushed and flew out over the bay, heading straight toward Pooles Island. Some of the group watched it until it was almost out of sight. It was slightly disappointing to think that "the" Rough-legged Hawk was departing the island, possibly for good, and not sticking around for more people to see it. But--almost immediately after, we found the original RLHA perched on the heavy equpment stored at 135+00! It flew out into the NC, apparently caught something (disappeared on the ground for several minutes), then flew out and landed along the lower road near 160+00. Our views of the departing bird weren't great, but I (TC) thought it looked darker and had less of the warm tawny coloration on the head.
