First notes from 12/16/25 from memory: 1 gull I have no idea with very pale aspect, looked more like a Herring Gull to me with head shape, bill shape, some pink coming into base of black bill. But super pale all over, had some pale tipping to primaries, wings and tail appeared browner rather than black. Not sure age, but looked more like first cycle? Second notes 12/17/25 from pics: Very pale overall, coverts all looked very neat so I'm assuming first winter. Head shape and bill shape all looked like Herring Gull to me - more block with larger bill with noticeably but not crazy gonydeal angle. Bill appeared to have some pink coming in at base. Head white with brown streaky areas, white more around bill, cheek and nape. Not very uniform breast, more blurry pale brown streaking over white, belly appeared brown. Mantle appeared slightly grayer and had some darker markings at back end, not experienced enough to say whether these markings are "oak-leaf-shaped" or whatever. Coverts all appeared frosty white with small brownish markings. When perched, tertials, primaries, and tail all appeared brownish rather than black. Noticed white tips to tertials, and small pale tips to primaries. Definitely not as noticeable as the putative Iceland Gull seen earlier. Including some poor/ok pics of bird flying off showing spread tail pretty well, and spread wing ok. Tail appears worn with abraded tips, more brown than black, with outer retrice having dark/white barring on full length of outer web and penultimate retrice showing this barring halfway down the outer web. Rump evenly barred dark/white. No dark bar on greater coverts, primaries definitely had an inner pale panel from p1-p6 or so, but outer primaries definitely appeared to at least in part to have venetian blinds look. Not solidly black like most of the imm Herring Gulls I was seeing. So yea. Not sure. Maybe an Iceland of some sort? But head shape and bill shape just looked way better for Herring.
