Detalles de la observación
We spoke with a resident of this neighborhood who said these have been observed early in the morning, which gives us reason to believe that they are not the birds we saw in the McClaren area this morning. Small ducks; colorful males with striking red eye and dark pupil, a lot of white striping, crested head, and small bill. Female similar shape and size with distinctive white tear drop around eye. To verify that these are not the same WODU we saw in the McClaren neighborhood, I conducted a "study" the next day. I fed the ducks on my pond shortly before 7 am, counted 25, then went over to Early Ponds and counted at least 25 WODU there. The photos I'm including are from December 15. (For some reason eBird is displaying the first image as taken on Dec. 14 at Early Pond, but it was taken on December 15 at Mount Tom Rd., after I returned from Early Pond.)
