Detalles de la observación
Long-staying rarity. Not in evidence on any of the rock jetties offshore from Bayfront Park; only one imm. type Brown Booby was hunched over in the ripping wind on the northernmost length of rocks. The stiff wind was making it hard to use the scope, and it was quite bitter compared to my last few days in the region--I thought perhaps the wind was keeping the Red-footed elsewhere. Then suddenly from where I'm not quite sure I picked it up ripping into the north wind, more or less over the northernmost set of rocks. Superficially reminiscent of a Northern Gannet, but much smaller, with black of wingtips extending inwards along the trailing edge of the wings--only the innermost part of the wings lacks the dark edge. Photos are somewhat distant, but diagnostic.
