sitting on S flats, with heads resting on back; initially among group of standing CanG that soon walked off to N; occasionally one would briefly raise head and look around (with the juvenile doing so many times more than the adult); first spotted from picnic area ~0815; remained resting in the same spot until they looked around as a low-flying US Army helicopter approached from the W at 0948; they stood up and started walking S as it passed by to the north; flexed wings a few times and made a short flight farther S on the bar; briefly wandered about on the flats, occasionally bending neck down to forage; then walked back to the NNW and into a flock of RBGu loafing close to the W edge of the exposed flats; almost immediately turned around, walked a short distance to the E and took flight off to SE (0958); gained altitude as they disappeared downriver toward Broad Creek; size, feathering around eye, and U-shaped edge to feathering on forehead confirmed ID;
