Snow Bunting crunching up seed pods from plants I couldn't identify.
Detalles de la observación
Found the bird out on the peninsula, bird was working the north shoreline, below the bank. I very cautiously followed the bird for probably 100 yards along the shoreline, watching it feed. It came up over the bank and fed in the open several times, but tended to stay fairly close to the shrub cover. At once point I saw the bird sit up at least a few feet in a shrub. I sat in the mud and had the bird come close to me a few times. When the bird was closest to me, a very loud military helicopter flew low and directly over us. The Snow Bunting hunkered down for a bit and then flew down the shoreline. I relocated the bird and it didn't take long for it to go back to feeding and working it's way back down the shoreline. Other interesting behavior included the bird occasionally resting under the roots of some shrubs, and perching at least a few feet off the ground in a shrub for a short time (I don't think I've ever seen a SNBU anywhere but on the ground or in flight before).
