Smaller than the scoters and the eiders, but swimming with them, in the turbulent waters just right of the north jetty. A dark duck with a white spot behind the ear and a short bill. With further looks, you notice two white spots on the face between the eye & the bill. The smaller white spot is above the eye line and the larger spot is below. The duck appears to be a female Harlequin Duck.
