NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 4. Bulk reel: 237 March 1965 - The songs of parts a) and b) have now been found to belong to D. pavoninus and recordings are now cut 1 of that species. a) ~10:30 AM. These calls would seem to belong to this species but I wasn't able to identify. Playback brought the bird closer but not into view. It did, however, bring a male of this species that sang its normal songs (see following cut) and was subsequently collected by Gonzalo Medina. Therefore, I suspect that these calls are of a female, probably the mate of the male collected. Quality: 2. Level: 6. b) 4:30 PM. Same bird brought in closer, after the male was collected. Quality: 1-2. Level: 4. c) 4:00 PM. The final song of the male just before he was collected. This is the complete song but doesn't have the third part that the Guayana birds gave. (Much print-through.) Quality: 1. Level: 3.5. March 1965 - The songs of parts a) and b) have now been found to belong to D. pavoninus and recordings are now cut 1 of that species. Response to playback: Approach.
