The Scaly Thrush (Zoothera dauma) is a medium-sized thrush with striking golden-buff plumage covered in bold black scalloped markings, giving it a distinctive "scaled" appearance. It is typically shy and secretive, foraging quietly on the forest floor for insects, earthworms, and other invertebrates. The species prefers dense, moist forests and wooded hillsides, often remaining hidden in undergrowth.
