Detalles de la observación

Very active feeders this morning after the snow cover set last night. The first bird I saw on top of the rose bushes was a bright male EVGR. Yellow underparts, dark neck and head with a bright yellow eyebrow. Huge light colored bill. Unfortunately it left as I was running to get the camera and it didn't show for the next 45 minutes. Fortunately the PUC was on the entire time and picked up several calls (which the PUC ID'ed as EVGR as well) between 7:02 and 7:08 (I saw the bird at 7:08). Calls are surprisingly difficult to distinguish from the HOSP calls (and the PUC does this frequently) but looking closer at the spectrograms all of these calls are lower than 3.5k, where HOSP are usually over 4k. Also the HOSPs don't show up in my yard until later in the morning which was the case when I went outside today search for the EVGR which gives me confidence these are good recordings of the bird. One of the clips is good enough to type the bird to Type 3 I believe based on the overall shape of the wave (two parts with the shorter higher part followed by lower longer part that gives the Type 3 a low burry quality). Audio. Yard bird. Note: I've picked up the bird again on PUC around 11:30pm with even better recordings although I won't log it because I'm not there to see it.
