I consulted Natural heritage of Masschusetts, "This appears to be a Big brown bat. I originally thought Eastern red bat, but the bat in the photos does not seem to have the very short ears, the contrast between the head and throat color and the chest, and the bright white shoulder like an Eastern red bat would. It also looks like the bat in the photos has a small tear in its tail membrane.
