Detalles de la observación
After several attempts I finally got to see the immature Brown Pelican. I was amazed how it was able to flatten out among the hundreds of Ring-billed Gulls and literally disappear. I am sure I overlooked the bird on other attempts for this reason. I am sure the bird was hidden from view from the north pier and could only be seen when it stood up. I have attached some photos of the pelican with one showing it laying down among the gulls where all that is visible is just a portion of the back. Note the dark spot in the center just above and to the right of the two gulls in flight. The bird has been present for several days now with the most recent sightings in this area.
