Detalles de la observación
This morning I surveyed one of the consistently(last three years) more productive areas for this species, but not very productive for GRSPs(my target). Numerous recordings obtained of the diagnostic unique "flight" calls. Also got some chip notes. Got quite a few to perch up so I think I have photos of about half of the birds including one photo with two individuals in it. Continuing use of expansive habitat by this species. Not every unit of the prairie is the same vegetation wise, and today's unit is one that's been productive for this species in the past. Descending trill calls, green heads with dark fine streaks on chest, maroon/black striped backs and yellowy flanks. Individual count of birds detected while I covered a decent bit of ground. 6:20-7:00 is prime time for all sparrows giving their morning seep notes and 'flight' calls. Pretty much anywhere is fair game for this species in this 6,000+ acre prairie.
