Female - our first of year. Location was the burned tall trees between the campground and the boatlaunch overlook. We parked at corner of this road and walked along small trail through the burned tree area. We heard her tapping in large juniper tree. She has yellow tones on her underside. Somewhat similar to the more common in our area Red-shafted flicker but this sapsucker showed a number of differences including barring on the flanks and sides of breast. No spotting on underside like flicker.
