Great bird found by Bill West yesterday in corn fields to the north of refuge! Present this morning when arrived at Middle Marshes at 7a after searching through corn fields (original location) earlier this morning. Flew to north at 7:25a just after a brief bout of hail/rain. Was able to relocate later at 8:13a at 35.56283, -105.18107 and viewed from the East/West portion of McAlister Refuge Hwy near the residences along that stretch thoguh weather was really deteriorating at that point and in fairly heavy snowfall. Larger crane (though thre was one very large Sandhill in the flock) with black throat extending up to and above eye. White cheeks/face otherwise. Yellow-orange bill. Bird was paler than others with dark wing tips. In flight, heavy black wing tips/primaries with a black trail edge to secondaries. Upper wing coverts
