Juvenile calling from near by, as adults duet from main territory. Duet not audible on this recording, except for one example of hoot style at 10s. Recorded during a break in strong winds, breezy winds still prevalent during recording. Not sure if it was because I was so close, but have heard different parents also have a tremolo to their hoot when calling in presence of a juvenile.
Detalles de la observación
Juvenile continuing to call from south of creek with a wide variety of calls including begging, "ehh", and screech calls. Attempted to record, but wind noise made most calls inaudible. Appears that the juvenile may be developing more complex vocalizations. At one point heard adult singing from top of tree, then some time after 6:38 a.m., adults duetting, each about 20 feet from me, one on each side in the canopy of main territory, while juvenile continued to call. A little surprised they were singing so close to me, although this pair is usually very tolerant. Left after recording, although appeared vocal activity was coming to an end with increasing light. Duetting might have went on for about 2-3 minutes total.
